Artist statement:
My work is primarily in glass, investigating hybrid cultural references. I merge visual narratives from personal histories, disparate experiences, travel, movement and popular culture. The inherent glamour of glass as a material is an inspiration.
I enjoy crossing the boundaries between disciplines and making connections, I investigate disparate relationships between traditional techniques and new technologies, using digital creative tools but also hand crafting. My work is informed by many interests such as textiles, the silk route, and international cultural blurring. The migration and mutation of ideas. I intend my work to be a diary of encounters and dialogues.

CV:
Maria Beddoes started out in fashion and textiles industry for several years before migrating to illustration and Graphic design. Clients include: The Arts Council, The British Council, ICA, Ben Kelly Design, The Southbank, InIva. This combined with a personal interest in glass, led me on to developing an interest in creating glass work for architectural spaces in a more integral way. Currently working on interior projects, public art, and producing work for upcoming exhibitions.
