Boats 84 x 114 Photographs on sprayed MDF board 2003
Genre:
Primary category: 2D and 3D
Secondary category: 2D Mixed media & 3D Installation
Artist statement:
From multiples of a photographed detail I construct an abstract image. Mounted on sprayed MDF board, this image explores layers of meaning which are not photographable. This body of work (3 cycles) presents a visual record of the transformation occurring along the urban Thames. Further work is in progress. This work bridges the divide between photography and fine art.
My installations address social, environmental and historical issues.
Currently I am working on an installation proposal which focuses on Children of War – Places of Memory; until recently a taboo subject which continues to meet with considerable resistance.

Change of direction-Despite academic achievements, the path I had followed was going nowhere. I went into therapy. After a further 6 years training, I qualified as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in 1991.
Parallel process-While in therapy I, a war child, began for the first time to ‘play’ (to create). This led to my becoming an artist.
