I am inspired by random and dynamic systems, repetition, empty space, arrays and modernism.

I consider myself a director in the artistic placement of shapes and the space around them, whilst creating order and pattern. Play and intuitive experimentation are how my artworks are started, often on a dark ground. As I create shapes and fit them into place a work of art begins to emerge and then I consider the value before the colour, and then gauge these two elements continuously throughout the process. In the development phase of the work, the decisions become more deliberate, but there is a back and forth from intentional and intuitive decision making until the work is finished. My goal is to create art with spatial harmony but with just enough tension to give the viewer a sense of serenity and balance while appealing to their curiosity to keep looking.

I relocated to England before the pandemic and setup my new studio during the first lockdown in the UK. Trodding about Surrey on foot through the North Downs and small towns has given me a fresh perspective from which to create. As I adapt and allow the new visuals of town and country to combine with my previous American experience, the imagery becomes intertwined and the artwork is reflective of the adaptation from one continent to another.
