I work intuitively, allowing the painting to evolve through a process of layers, scrapping or sanding back, glazing over, blanking out, or collaging.
I work from a store house of memories, rough sketches, photographs, gathered images and stories, glimpsed impressions, anything and everything is available as source.
Sometimes a representational element holds the ground, other times the painting moves into abstraction with just hints left of the origin of an idea, in a floating leaf, or circle of sun, or splatter of stars.
There is a sense that the painting calls the direction, I do the listening, discerning and responding.
