I studied illustration at Westminster university,

Life drawing was a key component of the course.

Following this I worked as an illustrator in publishing and design. Producing book and magazine covers for Virago, Time Out and the Gay Mens Press.

Here, I sometimes drew the authors. Or I imagined the characters in the books, depicting my friends as models.

Now I'm back drawing people again!

I love the sculptural forms and unique expressions in people's faces.

It's great when I get a likeness, even after a second attempt.

I recently drew my friend Alison, there is a strong family resemblance between her and her son Connor. We were very happy when he recognized himself in her portrait!

I really appreciate the sense of community and collaboration which I share and receive, when I'm drawing a portrait for someone.
