I hand-build free form vessels and sculptures using techniques such as coiling, pinching and lately Kurinuki, a Japanese method of hollowing out from a solid block of clay, carving out a vessel to create 'interior space'.

I combine my making of chawan & yunomi cups, tea caddies while researching Japanese pottery.

I started on the wheel but noticed  I was gravitating more and more toward traditional hand building techniques, and lately my creative journey has been mostly focused on the Kurinuki technique.

Very instinctual.

The Kurinuki method of making is all about energy. The motion is quick, but it’s not just the speed. It contains momentum.

I live in London and working from the Urban Potters Studio in Camberwell Green and from my own space at home in Dulwich.
